I have to admit that I really liked what Paul McKenna had to say because basicly I’m tired of dieting. I’m tired of watching every calorie and fat gram that goes into my mouth and not enjoying what I am eating.
So the things that Paul McKenna gave those who were watching the show to do is:
I don’t think these are the only two things that are homework assignments. I’m now learning to:
-
Eat without a book, magazine, TV, radio or video game in possession
-
Finally listen to my body to tell me if it’s hungry or full
-
Savor the food I eat
-
Put my fork and knife down between bites
-
Stop classifying foods as good or forbidden

These practices are not a new thing though. Twenty years ago Judy Wardell wrote Thin Within that had the same concepts. Within five weeks of the show I think Paul McKenna will also introduce us to visualization and planning.
I hate to say it but these are things that I have been telling my friends for years. Unfortunately I haven’t done them myself. So here’s to visualizing myself healthy, raising money for charity, finishing a 3 day walk, returning to college, and taking steps to do everything.

Did you catch Paul McKenna on TLC? The man who has written and video taped such things as “I Can Make You Thin”, “I Can Make You Confident”, and “Quit Smoking Now.”
I watched his show on TLC tonight and had to ask myself “Can it really be that easy.” Can the 4 steps of eat when your hungry, eat what you want, eat without distraction, and when your full stop eating? I mean even thin people eat unconsciously.
Over five weeks he’s going to work with a couple that is getting married in a few months. The wife is overweight but the husband has serious health problems. It looks like I am the same weight that he is, which is around 450 pounds. It will be interesting where we both end up.
Then Mr. McKenna brought out Sanjit. Sanjit had a heartbreaking story of feeling ugly on her wedding day. I can completely understand that. I was 460 pounds on my wedding day. I didn’t even have a wedding dress and wore what was clean to wear.
Sanjit then walked out 160 pounds lighter but she looked like she had lost more. Of course I was impressed. So I plan to give Paul McKenna’s concepts a try for five week. At the end of those five weeks, I’ll weigh and measure myself.
Hopefully I’ll melt in inches and get down to a weight where I can stop using two scales.

Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me…..O.K. my birthday was at the beginning of the month but I finally was able to get out and purchase my only birthday gift.
I went to our local Goodwill and actually found a nice blouse and suede skirt in a 3x. Are you the type of woman who loves to wear black and is known for the jewelry that you have on. That’s the way that I am. I would rather have a set of nice jewelry than have to mix and match clothing.
Avenue has the great set of costume jewelry that will go great with the tan suede skirt and black top. Now I just have to find a great pair of fall boots to wear with both of them.
This is my Inspirational outfit. My goal is to be able to fit into it comfortably by fall 2008. I might plan on wearing it to my first day back to college if it’s God’s will for me to go back to college.
I think that everyone should have an inspirational outfit. Just don’t wait till you reach your goal weight to get one. Take the time to pick out something that is a size or two sizes smaller than you are now. Post a picture up on your computer, your mirror, or your frig door.
Then meditate on this picture. See yourself wearing this outfit, feel the emotions that come from wearing this outfit, acknowledge the attention that you are going to ge from wearing this outfit.
For me it’s connecting the fact that the more walking that I do, the sooner I will be able to wear this outfit. I remember the compliments that I would get when I cared how I looked and I definitely want to feel them again.
